I’m Yours Forever | Mimi and Ben’s Intimate Santorini Wedding

No distance is too great when you have dreamed of your wedding day in view of the Santorini caldera. Such a breathtaking location is worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. Mimi and Ben , a lovely couple full of Joy and positive energy traveled to our beautiful little corner of the world with a few friends and family members to have the time of their lives and combine their unique intimate Santorini wedding with a Sunny & Aegean Blue Santorini vacation.

The couple’s idea of the their wedding was beauty in simplicity as for them what was important was that they were here in Santorini with each other and among their loved ones. Mimi decided on a bright pink table runner topped by a minimal centerpiece with bright white Peonies flowers. the result was a stunning central setting beneath the curtain gazebo in strong contrast with the white terrace and in perfect harmony with the surrounding views.

Mimi wore a beautiful wedding gown simple and elegant on that beautiful and very hot day with a white parasol in her hand she began the walk down the Firostefani steps between the white washed traditional houses holding Ben’s hand. Guests in the area vacationing congratulated the lovely couple and Traditional Musician Spiro and his two sons played traditional island wedding songs and sung their songs honoring the couple with their lyrics of love and marriage as is the traditional in the Greek islands.

Professional Photographer Spiros Zaharakis with his gift of capturing unique and natural moments of love and happiness was the couples chosen photographer. Always a step ahead and in the perfect position with his camera he captured all the amazing moments of the Mimi and Ben’s beautiful wedding day. Spiros Zaharakis was kind enough to give us a selection of photos from the many fantastic moments of this day to share with you.

Mimi and Ben approached the wedding venue were everyone was anticipating their arrival, one the traditional musicians could be heard by the guests they knew the couple was arriving and all stood up for their arrival. The lovely couple entered the wedding venue and stood side by side between the curtains and the celebrant began the ceremony. The couple was overwhelmed by this special moment and exploded with joy and happiness the moment they where pronounced husband and wife. Their family and friends joined them to congratulate them and enjoyed a glass of champagne while extending their wishes to them for their future together.

Ben and Mimi with their guests and Spiro Zaharakis soon departed our wedding venue and combined their photo session with a beautiful walk along the Cliffside path that connects Firostefani and Fira which offers breathtaking views and one of the most magical views of the central Fira Cliffside while approaching. This was a perfect choice as their dinner reception was arranged at the well known Sphinx restaurant located in a breathtaking Cliffside location on the central Fira Cliffside. Mimi and ben made many stops along the way as Spiros photographic eye never stopped discovering beautiful moments and scenic spots that presented opportunities for photos not to be missed as this Cliffside walk is one of the most beautiful someone can take in Santorini.
Arriving at Sphinx the couple was greeted by Owner Mrs. Julia Nicolaou that took excellent care of them for the fun and beautiful evening that followed.

  • Spiros Zaharakis - One note about this wedding for future couples. It was at mid day, 14:00. Not sunset.
It was a hot day but the staff at Dana Villas did their best to keep everyone cool and hydrated serving cold water and refreshments the whole time we stayed there.
Many people book their wedding at or around sunset time which is very limiting photo wise as the sunset only lasts a few minutes and after that the light falls off really quick leaving us very little time for photos.
The light in Dana Villas between 14:00 and 17:00 is perfect as the white walls and floors reflect the light back creating unusually nice light for the time.
Having your wedding early in the day also gives you plenty of time for photos in many different locations.
And in Santorini you will be spoiled for choices.
So if you are a future couple looking to book your wedding in Dana Villas, don’t hesitate to do it earlier than sunset.
I even dare to say that the time between 14:00 and 16:00 is the ideal time as it gives you plenty of choices for photos after the ceremony at different locations around the island while there is still available light.
If you are worried about heat just don’t; there are many ways to overcome this.
    1) Book your wedding on a “low season” month. It’s cooler and cheaper.
    2) Bring nice white umbrellas, they look great on pictures too.
    3) Do it at Dana Villas where the amazing staff will not let you feel uncomfortable for a split second.ReplyCancel
